The nation's leading safety advocate for more than 100 years, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization with the mission of eliminating preventable deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy.
OptimumLife, LLC is a proud member of the National Safety Council. It’s owner and operator has been a member since 2017 and has trained over 600 students in First Aid, CRP, and the use of AEDs.
Preventable injuries are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. NSC research shows incidents occurring at home and in the community account for 72% of all preventable injury-related deaths.
By sharing information and recommendations on how to minimize everyday hazards, the Council is committed to helping people mitigate those risks to make home a truly safe place to be.
The National Safety Council was founded in 1913 to make workplaces safer for employees. Over a century later, people are more than nine times more likely to die from a preventable injury off the job than on the job.
However, fatal work injuries have been climbing for three consecutive years, reaching 5,190 in 2016 – surpassing 5,000 for the first time in nearly a decade. We still have work to do.
SAFETY ON THE ROAD
Every family, individual and business in the country relies on our nation’s roadways. We expect 100% safe operations on our ships, planes and trains, but we still lose 100 lives every day on our roads.
More than 40,000 people died in 2017 in vehicle crashes, and the numbers have not improved. Each of these deaths is preventable, and the National Safety Council is working on a variety of fronts to reduce crashes, prevent injuries and save lives.
